Spiced Apple Fritters
4 red apples, cored, cut into thick slices (1.5cm thick)
1 Cup Plain Flour
½ Tsp Bicarbonate Soda
1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
¼ Tsp Ground Nutmeg and Clove
200ml Soda Water
2L Bertolli Light in Taste Olive Oil
Icing sugar, to serve
Sift together flour and bicarb into a large bowl, add spices and mix well.
Make a well in the centre, pour in the soda water then whisk together to form a batter.
Refrigerate batter for 30 minutes to thicken.
Heat Bertolli Light Oil in a large, deep saucepan or deep fryer to 190ºC.
Dip apple slices into the batter to coat then fry 3-4 slices at a time, for 2-3 minutes, turning them half way or until golden.
Drain on paper towel. Repeat with remaining apples.
Serve hot dusted with icing sugar & serve with your favourite ice cream for an extra yummy treat!
